Funeral services for Nettie Lee Yates Brown, age 89, of Woodland, will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church with Bro. David Daniel and Jerome Yates officiating.  Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 22nd. Mrs. Brown will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Monday.

Mrs. Brown passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Carrollton Nursing and Rehab.

Survivors include: two sons, Dennis Yates (Deborah) of Carrollton and Dwayne Yates (Marcia) of Ephesus; step-daughter, Leesa Copeland (Ricky) of Bowdon Junction; sister, Jewell Yates of Woodland; seven grandchildren, Russ DuRant, Ian Yates, Lindsey Vaughn, Brent Copeland, Eva Griffin, Jay Yates, and Kip Copeland; seven great-grandchildren, Addison DuRant, Levi McClurg, Sadie Grace McClurg, Valkerie Yates, Ella Copeland, Jack Copeland, Bristol Vaughn, and a new addition winter 2026.

Pallbearers will be Jay Yates, Taylor Vaughn, Levi McClurg, Richard Yates, Jared Griffin, and Tristan Knowles.

Mrs. Brown was born on October 4, 1936, the daughter of Newman A. Prescott and Burma Brown Prescott.  She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and had worked in the lunchroom for Randolph County Board of Education. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by two husbands, DC Yates and Barney Brown; her parents; and four step-brothers.
