Obituary

Graveside services for James “Buster” Whaley, age 68, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Wedowee City Cemetery with Dr. Raymond Sorrells and Dr. Kevin Whaley officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-1:30 PM on Friday before services begin.

Mr. Whaley passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Tanner Medical Center – East Alabama in Wedowee.

Survivors include: two brothers, Rex Whaley (Tonia) and Ricky Whaley (Debbie), both of Wedowee; momma, Judy Whaley; pawpaw, Raymond Sorrells; and four nephews and their families.

A Roanoke native, Mr. Whaley was born on January 21, 1958, the son of James Cleo and Katy Whaley.  He was a member of Temple Independent Baptist Church in Franklin.  Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his parents.
