Funeral services for James Watson, age 76, of Roanoke will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gene Benefield officiating.  Burial will follow at Potash Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Mr. Watson passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at his residence.

Survivors include: one daughter, April Nimon (Thomas) of Roanoke; one son, Kevin Watson (Renae) of Roanoke; nine grandchildren, Brittany Teet (Dustin), Kaylee DeLeon (Anthony), Laycee Butler (Lee), Cayden Nimon, Ethan Watson, Brody Watson, Landon Watson, Jessica Dandridge (Danny), and Tanner Madden; six great-grandchildren; Emily DeLeon, Jasper Butler, Hunter Dandridge, Willow Dandridge, Archer Dandridge, and baby girl Teet; two sisters, Sandra Sheppard (Benny) and Martha Clack; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Akins, Nicholas Nimon, Clifton Miller, Avery Sheppard, Dustin Teet, and Lee Butler.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Dobson and his fellow coworkers from Southwire.

Born on May 3, 1950, Mr. Watson is the son of Ailers and Pauline Kirby Watson.  He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Southwire in the maintenance department.  Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rhonda Watson; great-granddaughter, Alianna Teet; great-grandson, Lukah Teet; sisters, Patricia Watson and Mable Martin; and brothers, Robert Earnest and Vernon Watson.

Memorials may be floral.
