Funeral services for Rubin Ray Goodwin, age 69, of Newell will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Pastor Edward Bolton, Jr., officiating.  Burial will follow at Zion’s Rest Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Mr. Goodwin passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Roanoke Healthcare Center.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Williams Goodwin of Atlanta; two daughters, Kenyatta Goodwin and Sherita Jones, both of Atlanta; one grandson, Monquavious Goodwin; three great-grandchildren, Alijah, Kacey, and Niqueria; three sisters, Evelyn Houston of Newell, Edith Alls of Bowdon, and Betty O’neal of Riverdale, GA; and three brothers, Jerry Goodwin of Riverdale, GA, Bruel Goodwin of Bowdon, and Dewey Goodwin of Carrollton.

A Wedowee native, Mr. Goodwin was born on March 13, 1957, the son of Benny and Elnora Lancaster Goodwin. He was Methodist by faith and worked as a mechanic.  Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mattie Goodwin and Elnora Billings; three brothers, Benny Goodwin, Mack Goodwin, and Willie Ray Goodwin; and one stepson, Daryl Jones.
