Obituary of Donny Ray Smith

Funeral services for Donny Ray Smith, age 63, of Graham will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Gold Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. T.J. Morgan and Rev. Tony McManus officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Mr. Smith will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday. Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston. Survivors include: one son, Kelly Smith (wife, Crystal) of Graham; two grandchildren; one sister, Pam Gay (husband, Fred) of Ranburne; and one brother, Tim Wiggins of Woodland. Pallbearers will be James Garrett, Frank Hulsey, Lance Willingham, Mike Turner, Wade Gay, and John Hurley. A Carroll County native, Mr. Smith was born on January 15, 1951, the son of Lewis Buford and Virginia Kathleen Harden Smith. He was a member of Gold Ridge Baptist Church and worked as a carpenter. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy Carol Smith; and one sister, Pat McCurry.
