Obituary of John Luther Lewis

Funeral services for John Luther Lewis, age 92, of Woodland will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Bethel East Baptist Church with Rev. Ridley Herren officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Mr. Lewis passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at his residence. Survivors include: one daughter, Jeanette Lewis of Fayetteville, GA; one son, Clarence Lewis of Woodland; three grandchildren, Angela McDaniel, Christa Arrington, and Bill Lewis; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Colton, Jarod, Camryn, and Ashten; and a host of nieces and nephews. A Randolph County native, Mr. Lewis was born on May 3, 1922, the son of Ed and Mae Rice Lewis. He was a World War II United States Army veteran, a member of Bethel East Baptist Church, and a retired mechanic from Southwire. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 61 years, Eunice Lewis; two sisters and five brothers.
