Obituary of Evelyn Frances Yates

Obituary Notice Funeral services for Evelyn Johnson Yates, age 82, of Wedowee, will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 14, 2013, from Benefield Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Emery and Rev. Cade Ferris officiating. Burial will follow in the Wedowee City Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Kevin Yates, Billy Worthy, John Lambert and Jim Lambert. Mrs. Yates died, Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Wedowee Hospital. Mrs. Yates is survived by her husband, James Hoyt Yates, Jr. of Wedowee; one daughter, Gerri Lambert and husband Tommy of Mobile; one son, Ronnie Yates and wife Judy of Wedowee; one sister, Bobbie Nolen of Nashville, TN; one brother, Gwen Johnson of Moultrie, GA; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Mrs. Yates was born, May 17, 1930, the daughter of John A. and Dulema Abner Johnson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had work for twenty-five years as a lunch room worker for Randolph County High School and Middle School. A devoted grandmother, great grandmother, and avid gardener and quilter. Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary John McCormick.
