Obituary Notice Funeral services for Vernon Hobert McManus age 75 of Woodland will be held Saturday April 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM from Bear Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Jacob Wilkerson and Rev. Gary Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. McManus passed away Wednesday April 3, 2013 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife Shirley Thompson McManus of Woodland; one daughter Debra Ziegler of Dadeville; one son Mark McManus of Roanoke; one sister Judy Parrish of Woodland; one brother Gerald McManus of Woodland; three grandchildren Jarod Ziegler, Matthew McManus and Madison McManus; two great-grandchildren Aisley Ziegler and Emmalyn McManus. Active pallbearers will be Lee Parrish, Greg Parrish, Randy McManus, Richard Parrish, Scott Carpenter and Kaleb Parrish. Honorary pallbearers will be Jarod Ziegler, Matthew McManus, Madison McManus and Gordon Ballard. Mr. McManus was born September 21, 1937 the son of Joseph Lewis and Alice L. French McManus. He was a retired supervisor at Bremen-Bowden Investment Co. and a member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Beatrice Gross. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Bear Creek UMC 23980 Hwy 48 Woodland Alabama 36280. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home- Wedowee on Friday April 5, 2013 from 5 till 8 PM. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
