Mrs. Nell F. (Lovvorn) Greene, born January 25, 1925, passed away July 23, 2013 of natural causes at the age of 88. She worked for 60 years and enjoyed it and the freedom it provided her to do things for others as well as herself. A trip to a sunny beach was always high on her list of things to do; the more children and grandchildren that she could get to come along, the better. Nell loved and lived life to the fullest extent possible. She travelled frequently and lived in numerous states and countries such as France, Belgium and Germany. She enjoyed watching sports and was a big fan of the Auburn Tigers.
Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Major (ret.) Edwin Lee Greene, who was a decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Rose (Dr. Alan) Davis of Peachtree City, Mrs. Rhonda (Tommy) Hamilton of Moore, OK, Mr. Gil (Judy) Edmonson of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Mr. Huey Edmonson, Jr. of Madison, AL; Ms. Suzanne Edmondson of Nashville, TN, Mrs. Keri (Andy) Hale of Oklahoma City, OK, Mr. Brent (Melissa) Hamilton of Los Angeles, CA, Mr. Patrick (Kathleen) Davis of Kennesaw, GA, Mrs. Jennifer (Michael) Lecaros of Dunwoody, GA; great-grandchildren, Kyler Huey Edmondson, Hamilton, G.G. and Henry Hale, and William Hamilton; sister, Mrs. Dean (Lovvorn) Frazier of East Point, GA and long-time friend, Mr. James Smith of Peachtree City, GA.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 at 12:00 PM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City. Reverend Steve Quinn will officiate. The burial will be at 3:00 PM(CST) at Zion Baptist Cemetery in Woodland, AL. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cemetery Fund, Zion Baptist Church, 23123 Highway 48, Woodland, AL 36280.
