Obituary Notice
Funeral services for Ben Strickland age 82 of Newell will be held Monday August 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM from Union Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Wayne Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Strickland passed away Sunday August 4, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife Joyce Strickland of Newell; two sons Ronnie Strickland of Talladega and Jerry Strickland of Oxford; two step-daughters Jan Howard and Carla Boyd both of Newell; four step-sons Charles Taylor, Kenny Taylor, Danny Taylor and Dusty Taylor all of Newell; one brother Bill Strickland of Gadsden; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Boyd, Brent Taylor, Randy Camp, John Goidel and Brent Vohun.
Mr. Strickland was born August 14, 1930 the son of Olen and Vesta Hyatt Strickland. He was a retired truck driver with Carolina Express Trucking Co. and a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Mildred Hawthorne and Jean Norred.
The family will receive friends on Monday August 5, 2013 from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM at Union Baptist Church.
