Funeral services for Ridley Gladston Prescott, age 83, of Woodland will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013, from Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Wendell Ford and Rev. Tony Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friend at Benefield Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 on Sunday, August 11, 2013. Mr. Prescott died Thursday, August 8, 2013, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Dye Prescott of Woodland; two daughters, Debra Prescott of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Donna Nadwodny of Rockledge, FL; two sons, Darryl Prescott of Woodland and David Prescott of Ft. Pierce, FL; two stepdaughters, Kay Heard of Wedowee and Tammy Sanders of Wedowee; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lance Smith of Mississippi and Larry Smith of Panama City, FL. Pallbearers will be J.R. Fincher, Eric Dye, Phillip Dye, Joey Hester, L.C. Henderson, and Chuck Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Zack Prescott and Kyle Treadwell. A Randolph County native, Mr. Prescott was born on September 27, 1929, the son of Crawford and Mae Thompson Prescott. He was a Korean War Navy veteran, a member of Providence Baptist Church, a member of Heaton Masonic Lodge #354 F&AM, and was owner of P&D Auto Parts of Ft. Pierce, FL. Mr. Prescott was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Alene Prescott; and one brother, Lindy Smith.
