Obituary of Dura Manley Benefield

Obituary Funeral services for Dura Manley Benefield, age 85, of Woodland will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 2:00 PM from Zion Baptist Church in Woodland, Alabama, with Rev. David Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Mrs. Benefield will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday, February 21. Mrs. Benefield passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda (Jim) Sloan of Woodland; one son, Dennis (Kim) Benefield of Woodland; one son-in-law, Scott McKay; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Richard Halsey, Brock Vandagriff, Brett Heard, Scott Carter, Trae Sloan, and David Heard. The honorary pallbearer will be Bradley Heard. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Benefield was born on October 7, 1928, the daughter of William and Mattie Bailey Manley. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and was a retired registered nursed from the Randolph County Health Department. Mrs. Benefield was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Benefield; one daughter, Jean McKay; six sisters and two brothers.
