Obituary of Eloise Shelton Cooper

Funeral services for Eloise Shelton Cooper, age 84, of Woodland, will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 1:30 PM CST from Bear Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Henderson and Rev. Jacob Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM CST on Friday, April 18, 2014. Mrs. Cooper will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday, April 19. Mrs. Cooper passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Memory Lane Assisted Living in Bowdon, Georgia. Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Hardy of Woodland and Vivian Barr of Whitesburg, GA; three grandchildren, Chad Hardy, Chris Hardy, and Emily Little; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Autrey Shelton and Jack Shelton, both of Woodland. Pallbearers will be Chad Hardy, Chris Hardy, Jonathan Little, Wendell Shelton, Michael Shelton, and Tim Shelton. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Cooper was born on February 10, 1930, the daughter of Robert Lester and Etta Edwards Shelton. She was a member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Cooper; and one brother, Jesse Shelton. The family is accepting flowers or, in lieu of flowers, requests donations be made to Bear Creek United Methodist Church.
