Obituary of Joseph Henry Nix

Funeral services for Joseph Henry Nix, age 99, of Wedowee, will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 11:00 AM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30-11:00 AM on Monday, April 28. Mr. Nix passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at Lineville Health & Rehabilitation in Lineville. Survivors include: one son, Jerry (wife, Anne Marie) Nix of Wedowee; two grandchildren, Lewis J. (wife, Karen) Nix and Andrew S. Nix; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Addison Nix; and one brother, Fred Nix of Opelika. A Randolph County native, Mr. Nix was born on February 25, 1915, the son of Harrison R. and Goldie Noles Nix. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Wedowee and was Vice President of Manufacturing of Barwick Industries. Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Nix; one daughter, Gail Nix Thomas; and two brothers, Grady and George Nix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations that be made to the First United Methodist Church of Wedowee or the Lighthouse Soup Kitchen ministry.
