Obituary of John Wilburn Daniel

Funeral services for John Wilburn Daniel, Jr., age 89, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 1:00 PM from Christian Memorial Church with officiating. Burial will follow at the Marable-Daniel Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee and Ervin Funeral Home of Anniston in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2014. Mr. Daniel will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday. Mr. Daniel passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include: two daughters, Vanessa Daniel Sims of Wedowee and Lisa Daniel Eskridge of Chicage; one son, John Wilburn Daniel, III, of Wedowee; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas Daniel of Lansing, MI. Pallbearers will be Mr. Daniel's nephews. A Wedowee native, Mr. Daniel was born on January 25, 1925, the son of John Wilburn Daniel, Sr., and Mittie Marble Daniel. He was a US Navy World War II Veteran, a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and a retired self-employed auto mechanic. Mr. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and six brothers.
