Obituary of Eddie Lee Thompson

Funeral services for Eddie Lee Thompson, age 56, of Franklin, GA, will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 3:00 PM from Bear Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Jacob Wilkerson and Rev. Craig Dallas officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Mr. Thompson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday, September 10. Mr. Thompson passed away Monday, September 08, 2014, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. Survivors include his wife, Sabrina Lyon Thompson of Franklin, GA; two daughters, Brandi Thompson and Autumn Thompson, both of Franklin, GA; two sons, Jonathon Thompson of Lanett and Timmy Thompson of Valley; four step-children, Brunson Harris of Franlin, Ga, Tabitha Conner of Cartersville, GA, Craig Dallas of Yorksville, GA, and Edwin Harris of Franklin, Ga; five grandchildren; three sisters, Patsy Marcott of Opelika, Glenda Clark of Columbus, GA, and Elizabeth Rider of Valley; and one brother, Jimmy Webb of Opelika. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Patterson, Gerald Meacham, Edwin Harris, Bryant Thompson, Mark McManus, and Gordon Ballard. A Chambers County native, Mr. Thompson was born on August 31, 1958, the son of Loyce Shellie and Barbara Gaye Young Thompson. He was United Methodist by faith and was a self-employed paint and body mechanic. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dale Thompson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee for Mr. Thompson's funeral expenses.
