Obituary of Darrell Hill

Funeral services for Darrell Hill, age 71, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Allen Daniel and Bro. Tony Whiddon officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Mr. Hill passed away Friday, September 12, 2014, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Jewell Hill of Roanoke; one sister, Mary Brand of Woodland; two nephews, Wayne Hill(wife, Angie) and Tim Brand(wife, Alicia); two nieces, Carol Taylor(husband, Jerome) and Teresa Knight(husband, Joe); and several great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Wayne Hill, Drew Hill, Jerome Taylor, Eli Taylor, Douglas Kirk, and Hurbert Higgins. Honorary pallbearers will be Randolph County Rescue Squad and Station #5 Rock Stand Volunteer Fire Department. A Woodland native, Mr. Hill was born on June 15, 1943, the son of Will Rudolph and Annie Irene Stewart Hill. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ and was a maintenance supervisor for E&C Chemicals. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stewart Hill. The family is accepting flowers or, in lieu of flowers, requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
