Funeral services for Gladys Norris, age 85, of Newell will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with James Deese officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Congregational Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
Mrs. Norris passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Melvin T. Norris of Newell; one daughter, Vickie Cofield of Newell; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be D.J. Herring, Landon Herring, Tim Cofield, Benny Adams, Garry Parmer, and Jamie Norris. Honorary pallbearer will be Logan Cofield.
A Calhoun County native, Mrs. Norris was born on August 29, 1929, the daughter of James Earnest and Lela Mae Golden Helton. She was a member of Liberty Methodist Church in Carrollton, GA; and was a homemaker. Mrs. Norris was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Brenda Joyce Parmer; one son, Donald Dewayne Norris; one brother, Edward Helton; and one grandson, Justin Norris.
