Funeral services for Ruth Ray Wilson, age 85, of Woodland will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 2:00 PM from Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Morris and Rev. Terry Eason officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2014. Mrs. Wilson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.
Mrs. Wilson passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.
Survivors include her husband, Ben Wilson of Woodland; two sons, Ben Wilson, Jr., of Austell, GA, and Mike Wilson of Douglasville, GA; three grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Sarah Wilson, and Michael Wilson, Jr.; two sisters, Rachel Miller of Plainville, GA, and Eunice Carmack of Mableton, GA; and two brothers, Roy Ray of Arlington, VA, and Jimmy Ray of San Antonio, TX.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Wilson's nephews.
A Jefferson County native, Mrs. Wilson was born on August 14, 1929, the daughter of Robert and Maudie Harris Ray. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was a retired teacher from the Cobb County Board of Education. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sarah Ray; and one brother, Charles Ray.
The family is accepting flowers or, in lieu of flowers, donations to Providence Baptist Church.
