Obituary of Winnie Ruth Strickland

Funeral services for Winnie Ruth Strickland, age 89, of Leeds will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015, at 11:00 AM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial will follow at Knight Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday, February 9. Mrs. Strickland passed away Friday, February 8, 2015, at her residence. Survivors include: two sons, Jimmy Ray Strickland of Moody and Allred Benjamin Strickland of Covington, GA; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leola Smith Cook of Foley. Pallbearers will be Randy Strickland, Adam Strickland, Brayden Fomby, Jacky Hodges, Keith Hodges, and Andruas Strickland. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Strickland was born on April 5, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Maudie Lee Austin Smith. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and worked as a seamstress for United Chair. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther Samuel Strickland; sister, Nellie Ohnecka; and brother, Joseph David Smith.
