Funeral services for Anita J. Giffone, age 59, of Wedowee, will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at 2:30 PM from Morrison Chapel with Pastor John H. Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Miss Giffone will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday. Miss Giffone passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, at UAB in Birmingham. Survivors include her mother, Jackie Giffone of Wedowee; grandmother, Sarah Genett McCord of Wedowee; one brother, Rocky Giffone (wife, Michaeline) of Wedowee; a niece, Shelby Giffone; and two nephews, Chase Giffone and Colton Amberg. Pallbearers will be Josh McCord, Justin McCord, Jason McCord, Chase Giffone, Darrel Ferris, and Michael Waters. A New Mexico native, Miss Giffone was born on December 22, 1955, the daughter of John and Jackie McCord Giffone. She was Protestant by faith.
