Funeral services for Myrtis Eason Dunlap, age 73, of Oxford will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jason Reaves and Father Chris Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Chelcie Dunlap of Oxford; one daughter, Robin Ann Proietty (Bernard) of Oxford; one son, Todd Dunlap (Timm Leyden) of Oxford; two grandchildren, Jason McCormick (Amanda) and Jordan McCormick (Cierra); five great-grandchildren, Alexa, Kennedy, McKenzie, Emma Rae, Maggie Mae McCormick; one sister, Bobbie Shaw of Woodland; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A Randolph County resident for over 70 years, Mrs. Dunlap was born on November 12, 1941, the daughter of Marion Washington and Cassie Traylor Eason. Myrtis was Episcopal by faith and worked in the late ‘50s at Wedowee Shirt Factory for 10 years until she went on to work at Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company in Bowdon, GA. There she worked for over 35 years. Myrtis went on to work at various convenience stores and as a caregiver. Mrs. Dunlap was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James Larkin Eason, Griffen Eason, Charlie Eason, and Robert Eason, Sr.; and two sisters, Ola Mae Eason and Alice Cosper. Thank you to all Gentiva Hospice staff, especially nurses Angela Williamson and Amanda. A special thanks to Dr. David Chalk for his home visits.
