Obituary of Sara Sullivan Dobson

Funeral services for Sara Sullivan Dobson, age 83, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015, at 11:30 AM at the First Baptist Church of Wedowee with Rev. Cade Farris officiating. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2015. Mrs. Dobson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday.
Mrs. Dobson passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Max Dobson of Wedowee; two daughters, Lee Robbins Eason (husband, Eric) of Powder Springs, GA, and DeLaine Dobson Pearson (husband, Mel) of Camden, SC; five grandchildren, Wendy Brinley, Jeffrey Pearson, Lauren Hoffman, Alexandra (Alex) Robbins, Jack Robbins; five great-grandchildren, Garrett Pearson, Landon Pearson, Ava Elaine Brinley, Miles Brinley, and Leah Hoffman; and one sister, Margarett Sullivan Gray of Birmingham, AL.
Pallbearers will be Jon Rey Sullivan, Dayton Sullivan, Phillip Sullivan, Preston Sullivan, Chris Gray, David Gray, Russ Gray, Neal Coleman, Jerry Vickers, Tommy Camp, and Jack Sullivan.
A long-time Tuscaloosa resident, Mrs. Dobson was born in Gordo, Alabama, on June 10, 1931, the daughter of Robert Jackson and Gertha Viola Conway Sullivan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee and worked as an office manager for John Wise Enterprises. Mrs. Dobson also worked as Assistant to the Director of Personnel for Bell Helicopter while living in Tehran, Iran. She was a volunteer for The Girl Scouts of America where she served on the Cobb County Girl Scout Board of Directors and was a troop leader for many years. Mrs. Dobson was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elizabeth Elaine Sullivan; and two brothers, Robert Jackson Sullivan, Jr., and John Thomas Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the First Baptist Church of Wedowee.
