Obituary of Louise Lybrand Davenport

Funeral services for Louise Lybrand Owens Davenport, age 90, of Woodland will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2015, at 1:00 PM from Liberty East Baptist Church with Rev. Wade Noles and Carlin Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2015. Mrs. Davenport will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday. Mrs. Davenport passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at her residence. Survivors include: four children, Robert and Debra Owens of Southside, AL, Genice and Jerry Stapler of Ranburne, AL, Arlin and Judy Owens and Jerry Lynn Owens, both of Woodland, AL; one brother, L.B. Lybrand of Sneed, AL; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davenport leaves behind many friends and family members in Blount, Cleburne, and Randolph Counties. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Davenport’s great-grandsons, Alex Owens, Baily Hammonds, Taylor Noles, Ryan Owens, Justin Noles, and Trever Owens. A Blount County native, Mrs. Davenport was born on April 27, 1925, the daughter of Rev. O.M. and Bessie Bryant Lybrand. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Blount County and was a retired seamstress for Sewell Manufacturing. Mrs. Davenport was preceded in death by her parents; by a husband, James Olen Owens; another husband, Carl W. Davenport; two sisters, Iris Larson and Geneva Horsley Dunn; one brother, Quinton Lybrand; and two grandchildren, Donnette Smith and Jason Stapler.
