Funeral services for Robert J.L. Richardson, age 85, of Woodland, will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Welcome Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Overton, Rev. Billy Puckett, and Rev. Terry Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

Mr. Richardson passed away Monday, August 24, 2015, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Lucille Richardson of Woodland; one daughter, Sarah Joyce Robinson of Wedowee; one son, Robert Richardson, Jr., of Carrollton, GA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clemenes Richardson of Franklin, GA.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Richardson, Randy Richardson, Mason Spruill, Jason Spruill, Charles Agan and Alvin Bolan. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Richardson’s great-grandchildren.

A Cleburne County native, Mr. Richardson was born on October 10, 1929, the son of James Walker and Sarah Elizabeth Brown Richardson. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and worked as a shipping clerk for Southwire. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, three brothers, and one great-grandchild.
