Funeral services for Guy Franklin Wilson, age 83, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 4:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Jones and Rev. Matt Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2015.

Mr. Wilson passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at Traylor’s Retirement Center.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Clemons Wilson of Wedowee; one daughter, Sharon Dillard (husband, Ty) of Sharpsburg, GA; two stepdaughters, Emily Sharon Eichhammer of Roanoke and Patti Clemons Smith of Lafayette, AL; one son, Frankie Wilson (wife, Bonnie) of McDonough, GA; two stepsons, James Clemons of LaGrange, GA, and Michael Clemons of Wedowee; four grandchildren, Matthew Wilson (wife, Jamie), Andrew Wilson (wife, Meredith), Nathan Dillard (wife, Jeanine), and Philip Dillard (fiancé, Kristen Akin); seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Will Calhoun and Sara Haynes, both of Wedowee; and one brother, Robert Wilson of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Nathan Dillard, Philip Dillard, James Clemons, and Michael Clemons.

A Wedowee native, Mr. Wilson was born on June 16, 1932, the son of Thomas Clinton and Jessie Benefield Wilson. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church, and worked as a mechanic for Owens Illinois Glass Company. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Miriam Edwards Wilson; one sister, Virginia Fincher; and three brothers, T.C., Charlie Ford, and Sam Wilson.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Liberty Grove Congregational Methodist Church Building Fund.
