Obituary of Roger E. Loomis

Visitation for Roger E. Loomis, age 90, of Heflin will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015, from 2:00-5:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Home. Mr. Loomis passed away Monday, September 21, 2015, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Loomis of Heflin; two daughters, Mary Jo Loomis Sanders (husband, James) of Heflin and Susan Loomis (fiancé, Lanny) of Heflin; one son, Timothy John Loomis (wife, Amy) of Lacygne, KS; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Loretta Glaves of Oregon, WS. An Illinois native, Mr. Loomis was born on July 27, 1925, the son of Augusta and Mary Heinsen Loomis. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard and worked as a truck Driver. Mr. Loomis was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Joseph Craig; and 13 brothers and sisters.
