Obituary of Doris Hanner Morgan

Funeral services for Doris Hanner Morgan, age 79, of Woodland will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 2:00 PM from East Napoleon Church of Christ with Bro. Billy Prince and Bro. Wilbur Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2015. Mrs. Morgan will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services being held on Saturday. Mrs. Morgan passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015, at her residence. Survivors include: two daughters, Debbie M. Messer (husband, Barry) of Wedowee and Charlotte M. Hodges (husband, Clay) of Roanoke; two sons, Johnny K. Morgan (wife, Ann) of Roanoke and Ronnie J. Morgan (wife, Beth) of Carrollton, GA; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez McManus and Lorene Cofield, both of Woodland; and one brother, Charlie Hanner of Woodland. Pallbearers will be Kyle Morgan, Blake Morgan, Lee Messer, Ridley McManus, Clay Hodges, and Barry Messer. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Morgan was born on June 29, 1936, the daughter of Charlie Lee and Lola Harris Hanner. She was a member of East Napoleon Church of Christ and worked in the lunchroom for the Randolph County Board of Education. Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.W. Morgan; one sister, Lucille Wilson; and four brothers, Emmett, Elliott, Roy and Ray Hanner.
