Obituary of Donald M. Stillwell

Funeral services for Donald M. “Donnie” Stillwell, age 72, of Newell will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Union Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Halsey officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Mr. Stillwell will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday. Mr. Stillwell passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015, at East Alabama Medical Center. Survivors include: one sister, Mary Joyce Strickland of Newell and a host of nieces and nephews. A Randolph County native, Mr. Stillwell was born on March 8, 1943, the son of John J. and Ruby Leta Hallmark Stillwell. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, worked as a self-employed carpenter; and was a member of Morrison Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department since its establishment. Mr. Stillwell was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bobby Stillwell.
