Graveside services for Edwin Jack St. John, age 77, of Wedowee, will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 3:00 PM CST from Sunrise Cemetery, Douglasville, GA, with Bro. J.L. Sparks and Bro. Ron Bradshaw officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at Douglasville Church of Christ from 1:00-2:45 PM on Sunday. Mr. St. John passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Allsup St. John of Wedowee; two daughters, Julie Ann Starcher (husband, Chuck) of Woodstock, GA, and Jana Lee Ortega (husband, Fernando) of Dallas, GA; two grandchildren, Tyler Ortega and Gabrielle St. John Gasaway; one great-grandchild, Chesney Ortega; and one brother, Wayne St. John of Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Chuck Starcher, Tyler Ortega, Fernando Ortega, Terry Stephens, Joe Buckner, Larry Frisbee, and Jim Crawford. A Walker County native, Mr. St. John was born on October 10, 1938, the son of Edwin Douglas and Jewell Jackson St. John. He was a current member of Liberty Church of Christ and a previous member of Douglasville Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Jason St. John and Edwin Michael St. John. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Liberty Church of Christ or Douglasville Church of Christ.
