Obituary of Harlin Brown

Funeral services for Harlin Brown, age 92, of Woodland will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 1:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ridley Herren and Rev. Jamie Meeks officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel East Baptist Cemetery The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-8:00 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Mr. Brown passed away Friday, October 23, 2015, at Traylor’s Nursing Center. Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Turner (husband, Roger) of Bowdon, GA, and Brenda Spratlin (husband, Harold) of Woodland; one son, Wendell Brown (wife, Gale) of Woodland; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jamie Brown, Davy Spratlin, Ernie Spratlin, Jathan Turner, Travis Loftin, Anthony Sprayberry, Chris Sprayberry, and Andy Criswell. A Woodland native, Mr. Brown was born on May 23, 1923, the son of Hiram and Vennie Lou Bowen Brown. He was a member of Bethel East Baptist Church and worked as a weaver for West Point Pepperell. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lema Brown; one grandson, Wendell Shane Brown; four sisters; and four brothers.
