Funeral services for Carolyn Elizabeth Whiteside McGill, age 72, of Wadley will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Church in Wadley with Rev. A.D. Perkins, III, officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Mrs. McGill passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Azalea Place in Auburn. Survivors include: one daughter, Karen McGill of Denver, CO; three sons, Robert McGill of Tallahassee, FL, Samuel Paul McGill of Anchorage, AK, and David McGill of Denver, CO; six grandchildren, Gaige McGill, Taylor McGill, Riley McGill, Kyle McGill, Samuel McGill, and Katelyn McGill; and two brothers, Larry Whiteside of Virginia and Doug Whiteside of California. Pallbearers will be Mrs. McGill’s family. A North Carolina native, Mrs. McGill was born on August 27, 1943, the daughter of Woodrow and Lois Hamilton Whiteside. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mrs. McGill was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Curtis, McGill.
