Funeral services for Lee French, age 102, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11:00 AM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Howard Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Ava United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-8:00 PM on Friday, January 8, 2016.
Mrs. French passed away Thursday, January 07, 2016, at Wedowee Hospital.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Leigh Benefield (husband, Keith) of Wedowee; one son, Charles Nicholas “Nick” French (wife, Sylvia) of Wedowee; two grandchildren, Alyson Poillucci and Bryant Heard; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bailey, Brian Raughton, Cal Heard, Todd Huey, Heath Huey, and Matthew Teague.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. French was born on February 4, 1913, the daughter of Jackson Harvey and Mary F. Ramsey Beck. She was a member of Ava United Methodist Church and worked as a sales representative for Avon. Mrs. French was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Will French; three sisters; and three brothers.
