Funeral services for Mark Earl Goodson, age 53, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Wedowee with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2016. Mr. Goodson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday. Mr. Goodson passed away Wednesday, March 02, 2016, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Goodson of Wedowee; two daughters, Bridgette Smith (husband, Chad) of Newnan, GA, and Jennifer Goodson Buchanan (husband, Jimmy) of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Steven Buchanan, Andrew Buchanan, Julie Smith and Mariah O’Neal; his parents, James and Norma Goodson of Odom, GA; two sisters, Michele Hudson (husband, Lee) of Wedowee and Penny Bohannon (husband, Tim) of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother, Michael Goodson (wife, Pam) of Odom, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Andrew Buchanan, Steven Buchanan, Justin Pinkard, Jordan Hopkins, Ethan Walker, and Cade Walker. A Newnan, Georgia native, Mr. Goodson was born in Landstuhl, Germany on July 22, 1962, the son of James Nelson and Norma Swinderman Goodson. He was Baptist by faith and was owner of Satellite Specialist. Mr. Goodson was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Walter and Virginia Hudson; a brother, Matt Goodson; and an uncle, Guy Swinderman.
