Obituary of April Bonner

Obituary April Stiller Bonner, age 65, died October 4, 2016, in Roanoke, Alabama. April was born February 27, 1951, in Fort Bragg, NC, the daughter of the late Murell and Willie Rouse Stiller. April grew up on a farm in Stanly County, NC, and attended North Stanly High School, but then moved to Wedowee, Alabama, upon her marriage to Johnny Bonner in 1978. She gave birth to one child, Tricia, in 1980, and then spent many years at home raising her daughter and then her granddaughter, Janie, and taking care of her mother-in-law. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, her family, her home, and a good, home-cooked meal, especially dessert! She was active in her church while her health permitted. She was truly one of those people who “never met a stranger” and loved everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Tipton; stepfather, Howard Tipton; and ex-husband, Johnny Bonner. Survivors include her daughter, Tricia Bonner of Colorado; granddaughter, Janie Moore (husband, Joe) of Tennessee; sister, Patricia Masson of North Carolina; sister, Tina Bonner of Wedowee, AL; and brother, Terry Tipton of North Carolina. She also leaves two great-grandsons and several cousins. The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee, AL. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Wedowee with Rev. Cade Farris and Rev. David Little officiating. Burial will follow in the Wedowee City Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. April loved flowers and they would be appreciated, or if preferred, a monetary contribution to First Baptist Church of Wedowee, P. O. Box 355 ,Wedowee, Al 36278, would also be appreciated.
