Obituary of James Douglas Cofield

Funeral services for James Douglas Cofield, age 59, of Woodland, will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Jackson, Rev. Terry Eason, and Rev. Wendell Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
Mr. Cofield passed away on October 6, 2016.
Survivors include: wife, Rhonda Green Cofield; three daughters, Brittney Phillips (husband, Chris) of Woodland, Bethany Johnson (husband, Ben) of Wedowee, and Brianna Cofield of Woodland (Taylor Jones of Auburn); three grandchildren, Lucy Phillips, Livy Phillips, and Blakely James Johnson; two sisters, Joyce Knight of Wedowee (husband, Donnie) and Mary Rasbury (husband, Frank) of Wedowee; one brother, Glenn Green (wife, Penny); parents-in-law, Thomas and Shelby Jean Green; and host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Richardson, Gene Terrell, Kenneth Phillips, Blu Sledge, Mark Rasbury, Mark Johnson, Logan Stephens, and Wendell Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will be the Woodland Volunteer Fire Department, Dusty Shelton, Charles Blake, Ben Champion, and Will Sledge.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Cofield was born on May 15, 1957, the son of Tommie C. Cofield and Irene Green Cofield. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was the organizer and supporter of the Annual Boston Butt Sale and Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee at the church. Mr. Cofield loved football, as he was a devoted Auburn fan and Woodland fan, where he spent many years of service running the clock for the Bobcats. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coaching little league and church league softball. Also, he was a member of the Woodland Area Civic Club and the Randolph County Cattlemen’s Association. More than anything else, he loved his wife, daughters, and granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents.
