Obituary of Myron L. McCormick

Funeral services for Myron L. “Mr. Mac” McCormick, age 89, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Dr. Corky Addison officiating. Burial will follow at Lineville City Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Mr. McCormick will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Thursday. Mr. McCormick passed away Monday, December 19, 2016, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Survivors include: one son, Mike McCormick (wife, Linda) of Wedowee; four grandchildren, Jason McCormick (Amanda), Jordan McCormick (Cierra), Kristi Ramsey (Mark), and Marc Roberts (Ligia); and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jason McCormick, Jordan McCormick, Marc Roberts, Mark Ramsey, Ronnie Yates, and Chet Husk. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Stanley, Keith Mulder, Jack Prestridge, Terry Flournoy, James Smith, and Jerry Rice. A Randolph County native, Mr. McCormick was born on August 28, 1927, the son of Grady M. and Rada Walker McCormick. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and served in the United States Army for two years during World War II. Mr. McCormick retired from several jobs as an accountant. He worked for Wedowee Motor Co. for five years, General Electric for 24 years, Wellborn Cabinet for 12 years, Canal Wood Products at Hawk Yard for 15 years in the wood business, and Edwards Tax Service for four years. Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary John McCormick.
