Obituary of James K. Perry

Funeral services for James K. “Jim” Perry, age 64, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Iduma Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. David Waldrop and Rev. Tim Craft officiating.  Burial will follow at Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-8:00 PM on Monday, July 17, 2017.  Mr. Perry will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday.

Mr. Perry passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Creed Perry of Wedowee; one daughter, Kristie Kyles of Valley; three sons, David Landreth of Wedowee, and Tim Landreth and Kenny Landreth, both of Valley; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his father, James K. Perry; one sister, Sue Heller of North Carolina; and four brothers, Larry Perry and John Perry, both of North Carolina, and Bob Perry and George Perry, both of West Virginia. 

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Landreth, David Landreth, Dylan Landreth, Scott Wortham, Kenny Landreth, and Jake Landreth.

A North Carolina native, Mr. Perry was born on July 13, 1953, the son of James Kenneth and June Snyder Perry.  He was a member of Iduma Congregational Methodist Church and was retired from General Motors.  Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his mother and one grandson, Joseph Landreth.
