Obituary of Nellie Ruth Crenshaw

Funeral services for Nellie Ruth Crenshaw, age 92, of Woodland will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Church of Christ with Bro. Mark Carpenter and Rev. Donald Spradlin officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.  Mrs. Crenshaw will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Thursday.

Mrs. Crenshaw passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at her residence.

Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Williams (Murl) of Woodland; Bobby Crenshaw (Barbara Sue) of Woodland; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Turner of Mableton, GA, and Jean Richardson of Merritt Island, FL; and one brother, Rev. Donald Spradlin of Woodland.

Pallbearers will be Colton Crenshaw, Shain Crenshaw, Scott Smith, Cort Smith, Mike Spradlin, and Ken Spradlin.  Honorary pallbearers will be all the kids she used to babysit.

A Woodland native, Mrs. Crenshaw was born on February 18, 1925, the daughter of William J. and Lola Prince Spradlin.  She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of Christ and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Crenshaw was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Crenshaw; grandson, Kevin Williams; and eight brothers, Horace, Marvin, Basil, Junior, Wayne, Prince, Ira, and Winston Spradlin.
