Obituary of Vera Nell Watts

Funeral services for Vera Nell Watts, age 83, of Wedowee will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Dempsey officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethel West Baptist Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-7:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018.  Mrs. Watts will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday.

Mrs. Watts passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, at her residence.

Survivors include: three daughters, Regina Bentley (husband, Blake) of Dadeville, AL, Pam McKee (husband, Jeff) of Fairhope, Al, and Tonya Lovvorn (husband, Tracy) of Wedowee; two sons, James Watts (wife, Claire) of Auburn, AL, and Jeffery Watts (wife, Phyllis); ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Watts, Brett Watts, Timothy Watts, Drew Fincher, Dustin McKee, Landon McKee, and Kyle Lovvorn.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Watts was born on July 18, 1934, the daughter of Sam and Leona Nix Sheppard.  She was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James O. Watts, Sr.; three brothers; and five sisters.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church.
