Obituary of Ronald D. Stephens

Funeral services for Ronald D. Stephens, age 73, of Wadley will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Malone Baptist Church with Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, May 4, 2018.  Mr. Stephens will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday.

Mr. Stephens passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, at his residence.

Survivors include: one daughter, Debbie McElroy of Jacksonville, AL; one son, Jimmy Stephens of Wadley; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Hay and Judy Railey; two brothers, Merel Stephens and Steve Stephens; and caretaker, Jennifer Roberts.

Pallbearers will be Chad Stephens, Brad Stephens, Greg Stephens, Nelson Hay, Dale Hay, and Mark McWhorter.  Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Hay and Brian Stephens.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Stephens was born on October 10, 1944, the son of Floyd and Louise Newsome Stephens.  He was a member of Malone Baptist Church and worked as a carpenter.  Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ann Stephens.
