Funeral services for Elvin Milam, age 88, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donald Spradlin and Rev. David Waldrop officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Grove Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. 

Mr. Milam passed away Monday, May 7, 2018, at his residence.

Survivors include: four daughters, Shirley Gray, Marvolene Holloway, Vanieca Akins (Dwight), and Sonya Rollins, all of Wedowee; two sons, Ben Milam (Shelia) and Tim Milam (Peggy), both of Wedowee; a daughter-in-law, Marcela Milam of Oxford, AL; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, L. M. Milam of Sumter, SC.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Milam’s grandsons.

A Guntersville native, Mr. Milam was born on November 10, 1929, the son of Leslie and Mamie Harris Milam.  He was a member of Mount Grove Baptist Church and worked as a heavy equipment operator for L. A. Draper & Son and Shorty’s Truck and Train Parts.  Mr. Milam was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Milam; one grandson; and five sisters, MarySue, Avis, Florine, Maxine, and Mazell.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Benefield Funeral Home for final expenses.
