Funeral services for Hazel Eugenia Ward Thompson, age 96, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Little, Rev. Cade Ferris, David Daniel & Ricky Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

Mrs. Thompson passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Bethany House in Auburn.

Survivors include: one son, Phil Thompson (Denise) of Wedowee; three grandchildren, Sarah Newland, Laura Twilley, and Jennifer Laster; five great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Milton Britt, Jr., of Pompano Beach, FL.

Pallbearers will be Joe Thompson, Maxie Thompson, James Kendrick, Tommy Camp, Ron Watters, and Randy Green.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Yates, Jack Burnside, Tony Heard, Tommy Lipham, Vernon Lipham, Max Dobson, Forrest Phibbs, and Mark McManus.

A Graham, Alabama native, Mrs. Thompson was born on March 16, 1922, the daughter of Jeff and Lena Cosper Ward.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wedowee and was a retired seamstress.  Mrs. Hazel was a loving mother and will be greatly missed.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years, Charlie Will Thompson; and one sister, Sarah Roberts.
