Obituary of Jackie Wayne Whaley

Funeral services for Jackie Wayne Whaley, age 73, of Wedowee will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

Mr. Whaley passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Whaley of Wedowee; two daughters, Angie Hill (husband, Wayne) and Vicki Parker (husband, Blair), both of Woodland; four grandchildren, Andrew Hill, Nathan Parker, Katie Hill and Kellum Parker; and two sisters, Geraldine Simpson of Newell and Janie Bartlett of Opelika.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Hill, Nathan Parker, Lon Hurst, Ronald Daniel, Roger Daniel, and Ricky Whaley.

A Wedowee native, Mr. Whaley was born on September 11, 1944, the son of Tommie and Jewell Simpson Whaley.  He was a member of Zion Baptist Church and worked as a contractor.  Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Len, Lon, Lovvorn, Benny, Robert, Jimmy, and Bonnie Whaley; and one sister, Lana Daniel.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Auslin’s Chapel Church.
