Obituary of Don Lewis, Sr.

Funeral services for Don Lewis, Sr., age 67, of Wedowee will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Wedowee First United Methodist Church with Rev. Josh Hickman officiating.  Graveside services will follow at 1:30 PM at Oakhill Cemetery in Talladega with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, November 16, 2018.

Mr. Lewis passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Lewis of Wedowee; two sons, Donald Lee Lewis, Jr., (wife, Victoria) of Charleston, SC, and Timothy Jason Lewis (wife, Amanda Marie) of Savannah, GA; four grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Gallahar and Patty Ritch, both of Talladega, AL; and one brother, Rhett Lewis of Prattville, AL.

A Talladega, Alabama native, Mr. Lewis was born on September 5, 1951, the son of Elbert Sylvester and Ceylon Willis Lewis.  He was a member of the Wedowee First United Methodist Church and was retired from the Randolph County Board of Education where he served as Director of Career Tech.  Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Charles, Warren, and Bobby.
