Funeral services for Jo Landers, age 81, of Wedowee will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Wedowee with Rev. Cade Farris, Rev. David Little, and Ricky Daniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, December 30, 2018.  Mrs. Landers will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.

Mrs. Landers passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include: two daughters, Christi Anne Ward of Albany, GA, and Mindi Jo Turner (husband, Bruce) of Jacksonville, AL; three grandchildren, Mary Landers Ward, Ashton Cardine Ward and Haley Katherine Cotton; two sisters, Ruth Spradlin of Heflin and Burma Johnson (husband, Joe) of Athens, AL; one brother, Bobby Stewart (wife, Shirley) of Wedowee; and a host of nieces and nephews

Pallbearers will be Bill Williamson, David Brooks, Steve Spratlin, Mike Fields, David Spradlin, Gary Cullifer, and Gordon Thigpen.

A Woodland native, Mrs. Landers was born on October 1, 1937, the daughter of Allen Zilmer and Lottie Stodgill Stewart.  She was a graduate of Woodland High School.  She was the wife of Herman Davis Landers, her true love.  They built a beautiful life together and were married 56 years.

Mrs. Landers was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee where she served in numerous roles throughout the years.  She was a long-time member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class and so enjoyed her church family.  She was also a member of the Wedowee Hospital Auxillary.  Mrs. Landers worked for Alabama Power Company where she retired after working for 32 years.  She loved to travel and explore new places, was an avid reader, and a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

Jo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She was a true Southern lady.  She spent her life serving Christ and loving her family.  She was strong, beautiful, and courageous and leaves a legacy of love.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; and one brother and one sister.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Wedowee.
