Obituary of Charlie Henry Tolbert, Jr.

Funeral services for Charlie Henry Tolbert, Jr., age 78, of Woodland will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Willie Kidd and Rev. Curtis Tolbert officiating.  Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in Wedowee.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Mr. Tolbert passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019, at his residence.

Survivors include: two daughters, Delorise Ann Parker of Woodland and Linda Young (Willie) of Alex City; one son, Jimmy Drummond (Diane) of Troy, AL; two special grandsons, Chadarius Parker and Cortavious Parker whom he raised like his own sons; four other grandkids, Willie Tolbert, Cornita Joiner (Cecil), Equeshia Tolbert, and SanieToryial Tolbert; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Tolbert Truss and Helen Tolbert Drake; one brother, Charles Finley; two sisters-in-law, Rosa Tolbert and Channie Tolbert; and two special friends, Sarah Turner and Robert Knight.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Drummond, Clifton Drummond, Lavell Knight, Matt Brewer, Craig Davidson, and Willie Tolbert.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dexter Tolbert, Todd Truss, and Ken Truss.

A Wedowee native, Mr. Tolbert was born on April 7, 1940, the son of Charlie Henry Tolbert, Sr., and Bertha Sterling Tolbert.  He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and the Auburn Tigers.  Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Ann Patillo Tolbert; four sisters, Jerrlee Nunn, Hattie Mae Finley, Beatrice Tolbert, and Dorothy Tolbert; and four brothers, E. C. Tolbert, Ora D. Tolbert, T. C. Tolbert, Sr., and Robert Tolbert.
