Obituary of Bernard Gerald McKeone

Funeral services for Bernard Gerald McKeone, age 92, of Wedowee will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Little, Mike Parker, and Woodrow Hudson officiating.  Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery with a military graveside service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Mr. McKeone passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation in Lineville, Alabama.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon McKeone of Wedowee; two daughters, Lisa Florio of Kansas City, MO, and Sharon Drost of Tonganoxie, KS; two sons, David McKeone of Kansas City, MO, and Joseph Scott Hall of Decatur, GA; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick McKeone, John McKeone, Robbie McKeone, Thomas King, Kyle Davis, and Tony Chavez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. McKeone’s Sunday school class.

An Omaha, Nebraska native, Mr. McKeone was born on September 29, 1926, the son of William Edward and Floretta Hinnen McKeone.  He was a United States Marine Corp World War II veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee, and a retired salesman for Consolidated Freight Ways.  Mr. McKeone was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bernard Gerald McKeone, Jr.; two granddaughters, Kristin Florio and Melissa Chavez; and five brothers.
