Obituary of Peggy Knight Thrasher

Funeral services for Peggy Knight Thrasher, age 83, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Iduma Congregational Methodist Church with Larry Wortham, Rev. Jonathan Hannah, and Stanley Pethel officiating.  Burial will follow at Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2019.  Mrs. Thrasher will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Thursday.

Mrs. Thrasher passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at her residence.

Survivors include: one daughter, Susan Pethel (husband, Stanley) of Carrollton, GA; two sons, David Thrasher (wife, Renea) of Winston, GA, and Billy Joe Thrasher (wife, Jana) of Roanoke;  six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Werner of Newnan, GA.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Wortham, Eugene Wortham, Chester Wortham, Wendell White, Phillip Wortham, and Terry Sheppard.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Thrasher was born on March 21, 1936, the daughter of Hoyt and Eunice Sheppard Knight.  She was a member of Iduma Cong. Methodist Church and was a housewife.  Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Thrasher; one son, Chuck Thrasher; three brothers and one sister.
