Obituary of Samuel Douglas Robertson

Funeral services for Samuel Douglas Robertson, 14, of Woodland will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Big Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Donny Chandler and Bro. Scott Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2019.  Samuel will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday.

Samuel passed away Monday, July 22, 2019, in Woodland.

Survivors include his parents, Steven Dale and Lorrie Prince Robertson; two sisters, Rebecca Robertson and Lillian Robertson; and one brother, Dale Robertson.

Pallbearers will be Dale Robertson, Eli Rollins, Cort Smith, Mick Bailey, Caleb Dempsey, Jakob Morris, Briar Morris, and Parker Woodham.  Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Butler, Jake Conger, Blu Herren, Justus Herring, Dalton Bolan, Callen Gay, Tate Bradford, Jackson Lovvorn, Guy McManus, Jesse Baldwin, Kip Strain and Jared Prince.

A Randolph County native, Samuel was born in LaGrange, Georgia, on October 8, 2004, the son of Steven Dale and Lorrie Prince Robertson.  He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church and went to school at Woodland High School where he was a member of the football, baseball and basketball teams as well as a member of the W Club, 4-H, and the Gifted Club.  Samuel was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Hansard Gay “Robbie” Robertson, Jr., and Tommy Joe Prince; an aunt, Sandra Elizabeth Hodges; and a great-uncle, Roger Harold Botsford, Jr.
